Almost 3 months in to 2018 and already so much has evolved for Part of the Conversation.
Part Of The Conversation presents Black History Month @ CIvic Hall
This quick thought turned into 11 events crammed into the shortest month of the year (and it wasn’t even a leap year). From keynote speeches to book talks, panels and info sessions to workshops, all aimed at shining a spotlight on the black experience.
High Points:
These events were so positively recieved by both attendees and bystanders alike.
We brought together phenomenal individuals for phenomenal causes.
We were able to provide a platform for great things to happen.
Low Points:
The haphazardly creation of all the events resulted in a few with significantly low attendance.
Really wish we could have done something for every day of the month.
Low bandwidth resulted in a few missed opportunities.
Transitioning Out of CIvic Hall
This change has created a significant bump in the road. But has also forced growth:
We now have more time to dedicate to proper execution.
Ability to spread events around the city as opposed to one location.
So many more possibilities!
On A Personal Note
Putting together these events has put me in the spotlight in a way that I was not 100% comfortable with. But, it has also created an opportunity for me to help more people, increase my connections and a catalyst for personal growth.
In short, POTC is a mutually beneficial machine for all involved. The better you look, the better we look!
